TWINS!! No lying!

Here is a recent photo of my niece and nephew. They are twins. Looking at them they do not even look like they are related. LOL! He matches all his brothers but we don't know where she came from. Just check out that carrot orange hair!!! We are thinking they were switched at birth. If I ever get my butt in gear I will have a lot of fun scrapping all these babies photos. Since I am currently working on this exact time of year but for 2003 I am quite a bit behind. I never even finished my book for 2002 and have not even started 2004.

Anniversary

B and I celebrated our 7th Anniversary this past Monday. We had a wonderful day at home (no work for me - Yay!) and then went out to dinner at The Old Pueblo Grill. I had a gift certificate to a string of restaurants and we finally decided to use it here. We did not even know what they served. LOL! The place was lovely and the food was kind of Mexican but with a Southwestern flair. Everything had chilies in it - even the ice cream. I had shrimp and B had steak. With it being a Monday it was very quiet. The food took no time to prepare at all and most of the items were either 50% off or on some type of special which we found out is 'what they do' on Mondays. We will definitely go back and on a Monday too.

A day at the park

Today was my nephew's 2nd birthday and his mother's too (my sister-in-law). My brother had it at the park. Knowing my brother we went 1/2 hour after it started. My sister in law was the only one there (other than her grandparents). Not even her kids were there yet. Of course when Sammy (birthday boy) got there he would not let anyone near him. He is so different than anyone in our family. He pouts until about an hour into being somewhere then he loosens up. My dad so loves to play with him. In fact my dad took him for the day yesterday and he still acted pouty like he did not know him today. He does this thing where he looks right past you when you call him. He will ignore you. My mom was calling him and he instead was staring right at me with his evil eye look. It is what makes him so cute. I got to hold only one of the twins today - Andrew. He will be 4 months next week and he is 15 pounds!! Sammy is only 30 pounds and the doctor said he was too fat. Yet chubby Andrew according to the doctor is just right. I do not know little Anna's weight but the doctor says she is too short. We will just have to wait and see with her. Her great-grandmother spent the whole time holding her so I just contended myself with Sammy and Andrew. I took lots of photos - even some of my dad rolling in the grass with Sammy. I have to take them in on Monday to be developed and hopefully will have them on Tuesday. Since it is Saturday it is game night so with B away I hope to get some scrapping done tonight. So before I lose the motivation I better get offline and away from the computer. Here is the most recent photo of Sammy that I have. This was taken back in June - this is the look I am talking about. In this photo he has just walked into the hospital room after the twins were born. My brother picked him up and I snapped the picture.

The start of a nice long weekend....

Today was the start of 5 days away from work. I took a couple of days of for our anniversary. I am looking forward to the relaxation. So far we have just been very lazy. I read during the morning and then we watched Mean Girls. I thought the movie was funny and caught myself laughing out loud a few times. I would recommend it. Now I am on the computer downloading emails and deciding what to do next. Not much of an entry but there is not much to tell.

YAY! Profile has updated!

Now I am happy. LOL! My profile has updated. Such simple things just make my day!!! *Ü*

Photo of the Twins!!

I finally got the Picasa/Hello program to work at my work. Since this program will resize my photos automatically I will probably use them for posting of pictures and use my photobucket for when I want links and photos in my sidebar.

These 2 cuties are my brother's twins. They are one week old in this photo but are about 3 months old now. They do not look like each other even a tiny bit. She has carrot orange hair and blue eyes and He matches all of his other brothers and fits in perfectly in our little Mexican family. She will be like me. The only one that does not match. Finally after 34 years I am no longer the only person in the family with blue eyes. I will enjoy sharing this little thing with her.

Just a post

I did not have time to post today as work was total H***!!!! Since people from work read this I will not post the gory details until maybe later. LOL! Just jumped on to update the link to the new book I am reading. I hope to have my update on books read recently posted tomorrow or so and of course a brag about my favorite team winning the Amazing Race!!!! Yay!!! It is midnight and time for bed.

Profile not updating

It really irks me that my profile will not update. It has not updated since the beginning of the month. Looking in the FAQ's I found that this is a problem but the FAQ's state that I just need to update my blog for it to update my profile. I don't know why my profile not updating is bugging me so much.

Darn weatherman!!!

Saturday we were woken up around 4am by thunder so loud it made everything shake. My neighbor said it even moved his AC unit. It was the type of thunder and lighting that freaks me out that even though I have a surge protector I always end up unplugging the computer. The rain (tons of it) and thunder lasted the entire day. We were expecting this since we had Hurricane/Tropical Storm Javier coming thru. This was not the actual storm but the pre-storm as it was explained by the weathermen on t.v. Well these same weathermen also predicted that we would be hit on Sunday by the actual hurricane/tropical storm and everything (water, wind and thunder) would basically be doubled. Even the websites I visited confirmed this. Well talk about a let down. Even with an 80% chance of rain on Sunday we did not get a single drop. We also did not get any rain this morning (Monday) as was predicted. Now it is all hot outside. That is one of the bad things about living in the desert. If we are told it will rain it better rain!!! I cannot even find any new information regarding this tropical storm. I guess it is no longer a storm. I guess I should be happy it is not raining. When it rains my favorite thing to do is to sit by the window and read. I hate when it rains and I am at work. My weather pixie even shows that it is nice and clear. What a bummer.

Male Authors?

I am currently reading the book Nano by John Robert Marlow. I don't know what it is with male authors but I have noticed they like to use big words to make the book sound better - like they sat with a Thesaurus while writing. This book does that and the author also makes up words (which he admits to). I am finding it hard to concentrate on this book and find myself re-reading the same sentence over and over. I am sticking with it though as I am getting the jist of the storyline. I just think that it does not need all the extra filler stuff in the way of large words to explain the details. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that male authors are bad. In fact I enjoy the Left Behind series among many others and those are written by men. I just find it funny that they all like to use big words. Am I the only one that thinks this way?

5-years!!

I have worked for the same company for 5 years. YAY! I celebrated my anniversary this month. Today I was given a silver frame/calendar that is engraved with the company name and the words "5 years". I also get a gift. I was given a Bravanta gift certificate. A Bravanta gift certificate usually allows you lots of choices (gift baskets, gift certificates etc). The best value with those is usually getting a gift certificate (last one I got was a $50 Target gift certificate). For the 5-year anniversary you get to chose from 8 pre-selected items. For the most part they are really nice gifts (well for the anniversary selection they are really nice). I think I will select a pearl & diamond necklace which is very pretty. I can get it in white or yellow gold. Won't I look purty??? I have pasted the description and photo below:

14K Freshwater Pearl & Diamond Pendant
A single white 8mm freshwater
pearl is the focal point of this very modern pendant. The pearl is accented by
two round brilliant diamonds, bezel set in 14k white or yellow gold, and the
pendant dangles from a 17-inch gold wire chain.

Books I have recently read

I have not updated anything in quite awhile. It is just good to get away from a computer once in awhile. Since my job is working on a computer I can go days without turning on the computer at home. I usually just turn it on once a week to download email.

So during my time away from the computer this week I read a few books. Click on the links to read more about them.

First I finished reading Between Friends
by Debbie Macomber.

This books was pretty interesting as it told the story about 2 best friends but it isn't written like a regular book. It is a collection of their letters and announcements to each other and to their family. I plan on reading more books from this author and have one on hold at the library now.

Another book I read this weekend was The Shapechanger's Wife
by Sharon Shinn. (no picture for this one). This was a sci-fi book (had to get away from the romances LOL!). This was a short book and had a nice story to it. So far this is the second book I have read by this author. I like her so far and have another I have been saving to read but it is a thick one and I have not really decided yet if the title is one that I would enjoy.

The last book I finished since my last update was Pink Slip Party by Cara Lockwood.

Now this was a funny book. The main character works for a company that creates pink slips. She is then laid off. The story follows her as she tries to make it with no money and no job. I pasted the book description below:

She's been handed her walking papers.

Jane McGregor has just been laid off from her job designing pink
slips for an office supply company. The irony is not lost on her. She's a
twenty-eight-year-old art major whose last major career accomplishment was
being
propositioned by the company vice president. Desperate to maintain her
freedom
from her oddball parents, tyrannical older brother, and slacker
ex-boyfriend,
Jane starts sending out resumes. So what if some of them
aren't exactly, well,
true.

She's taking the future in stride.

When Jane's dad, a staunchly conservative believer in the corporate
dream, loses his job, and her mom goes to work for a trendy dot com, Jane
discovers that the family she's taken for granted is unraveling. After a
fellow
lay-off victim hatches a plot to seek revenge on the office supply
company, Jane
must choose between living in the past and seeking out a new
future. To her
surprise, that future might involve a most unlikely partner
in crime --
handsome, funny Kyle Burton -- and maybe, just maybe, a new job,
too.

Unfortunately this is the only book by this author at my local library so either I need to buy her others or hopefully the library will take the suggestion I entered to get more books written by her.

B. always asks me if the only books I read are by women. I find this funny since I have alot of books we bought on our shelves that are written by men. He likes to look at the pile of books I have out from the library and make comments such as this one. Well the only comment he ever makes is that all the authors are women. Of course I am trying to point out quite often that the book I am currently reading was written by a man. It has been in the pile for awhile but I guess he has never noticed it.

glutton for punishment

I don't know why I keep trying. The internet is not working very well here at work and it will not let me publish my blog. At least it is saving the posts! I have been trying to update my side since 9AM and it now 12:30 (even though 1:30 is showing below). I wonder how long it will take me to update this post?

Tired today

I am so tired today. It is my own fault though. I started a new book last night and it was not one that I could find a good place to stop. The whole book is written as if two friends and families are writing letters to each other. It is an interesting concept. The link should be on the right side bar. It is called Between Friends by Debbie Macomber.

As for books the last one I read was Ruby by V. C. Andrews.

I don't think I have read this particular series from her (well from her family of writers since she is dead and the books was written after her death). It was an okay book. Not as dark as other books of hers I have read.

It seems the only time I can update my blog is while I am at work. I feel so guilty taking a break. I never take a break anymore and I always seem to decide to take one when people are walking by so it looks like I am slacking. I seem to find that more and more I don't even turn on the computer at home unless it is the weekend. Spending over 10 hours a day at the computer at work seems to be enough for me. I remember when I could never get enough of the computer. *Ü*

Did you see my weather pixie? She is on the right sidebar. You can get one too. Just go to
www.weatherpixie.com.

I am wondering if I should post (for myself) a listing of what I eat during a day. I am wondering if that will keep me accountable to what I put in my mouth. Hmmmmmmmmmm. I will have to think on this one.

What a jumble of stuff I have written today.
URGH!!! This is taking me over an hour to post!!!!!

Back to the grind

Well here I am. Back at work. The holiday weekend is over. I did not turn on the computer at all yesterday. B and I were just lazy all day. He played is dumb video games and I read a book. I did manage to get some laundry done so it was a total waste of a day.

My only happiness this week is that I only have a short 3-day work week. YAY! I can see that it will still be a long week though. It is barely lunch time and I still have 5 more hours to go. I also have tons of errands and things to do in the 2 hours after work. I do not know why every place I need to go to today closes at 8pm and I don't get off of work until after 6pm. I need to go to Curves and also the library. I think I will put shopping off until another day. I have to be home and in front of the television exactly at 9pm to see The Amazing Race. LOL! Gotta love that show!

Day off #3 (Labor Day)

Nothing is as good as taking a nap on a Sunday afternoon.

Today has been a lazy day and I love it. Of course, I am not doing anything that I have planned to do but it is still turning out nicely. We just ordered pizza from a local place we have never tried so I am hoping it is good. Bryon is going to pick it up right now.

As for Saturday. We went to my parents' and I got a huge baby fix so I am doing good. LOL! Between the soon-to-be 2-year old and the twins we had a handful. The twins look nothing alike. Well granted one is a boy and the other a girl but they do not match. LOL! Baby boy is chubby and dark and looks like he fits with his brothers. Baby girl has carrot orange hair – (YES ORANGE!!) In addition, to having big blue eyes. I always hoped that the only kids with blue eyes in my family would be my own since for the past 34 years, I have been the only blue-eyed person in my family but I cannot hold it against her since she is so cute.

I finished reading Visions of Sugar Plums by Janet Evanovich.

It is about time!! It is a very short book but took me 3 tries to finish it. I love her Stephanie Plum series but this book was not written in the same style and I did not like it. Now I just have to wait for Ten Big Ones to come in to the library. I have it on hold and I am #370+ or something. That is good since I was originally #507 when I first placed it on hold.

Well I think that may be it for me today. Pizza is here!

September 4, 2004

Day off #2 (Labor Day)

Today we are going to my parents' for a BBQ. We are having Labor Day early since my brother is a lucky guy and gets to work on Labor Day. Of course every single summer day here in the desert is dry and in the 100s. So it is totally normal for it to be raining all day today right? I woke up to rain and now it looks like it is ready to go again. It will be an interesting BBQ I am sure.

My brother has 5 kids. Three are still in diapers (there is a set of twins in there). I will definitely get my baby fix today. I am all set with tons of film and new camera batteries. Now my darn brother better show up and have all the kids. LOL! He is famous for either not showing up at all or like last time – we were eating at 5:00 and showed up a noon for about an hour. I am crossing my fingers that I am not disappointed today.

Oh and not to change the subject or anything................does anyone know how to brush a cat's teeth?

September 3, 2004

Day off #1 (Labor Day) cont.

B and I (well just me because B fell asleep) watched the movie Taking Lives. Now this movie I liked. I liked it better than the one we saw earlier today. B made a nice dinner of roast chicken with a seasoning he made up that included honey. It was very good. He so loves to cook and he is very good at it. After the movie, I finished reading Summer in Tuscany by Elizabeth Adler.

It was an okay book. It was a romance. I just could not seem to concentrate on it so it took me awhile to get thru. The story was not bad though. Now I just need to pick another book to read from the huge stash I have from the library.

Well I am off to read – goodnight.

Day off #1 (Labor Day)

My blog is too PINK!! I really need to change this template. Knowing how bored I get with things I may just have to change the colors every month. Maybe I will do that this weekend.

Today I started out planning to write a long catch-up but I kept getting distracted. So basically, the highlights of my day have been that I got 4 loads of laundry done. LOL! Right now, B and I are watching the movie Godsend. I don't like freaky scary movies so either my eyes are closed or I don't look thru my glasses. B just laughs at me. He is not very good in telling me when the scary parts are over like my brother used to be. Maybe because my brother I could get in trouble with Mom and Dad and with B I am just stuck with him. *Ü*

And there goes my first day off for the Labor Day holiday!!

September 1, 2004

Mama said..."Don't poke your eye out"

The funniest just thing happened. While throwing handmade paper airplanes here at work, we all were joking about hitting people in the eye or something. Well the guy next to me was cutting off the tips of the airplanes so they were not so sharp. He mentioned this to the guy making the airplanes and he thought it was a good idea. So he starts to cut the tip off of a new airplane at the same time the guy next to me throws a paper airplane at him. He was commenting that we were right to protect people's eyes and right at that second he got an airplane right in the eye!!!!! His contact fell out (still has not found it) and he was laughing so hard he started crying and the other contact fell out. So remember the saying that someone may poke your eye out can come true!!!!

The first day of September...

Welcome to September.

September did not start very well for me. I still have not turned over my calendar and I think I may just wait on that awhile. I am SO ready for a weekend. A 4-day weekend!!!! It cannot come soon enough - only it means I will have to be at home which is part of why September did not start very well. LOL! But such is life.

It is taking me the whole day just to write this. My goal is to be funny but my life is not that interesting. The most interesting thing to happen so far today is that we threw an entire box (one that can hold 65 pounds - don't know the size) of paper balls on our manager. It is paperball war over here. It will go on until someone gets mad and calls OSHA (which has happened before). Can you believe a business that has a BAN on throwing paper balls? Well that guy was fired years ago and it has been a plethora of things (paper airplanes, balloons, rubber bands - you name it) flying thru the air. Well I better go.

Oh.....and I still have not changed over the calendar.
